About the event

What’s in a week? Maybe it’s a question you have not thought much about before. But as the outer circumstances that give structure to the week like work and school schedules have been upended in recent months, perhaps you have felt disorientated or out of balance – a feeling of being lost in time. When week after week is disrupted in this way, we can begin to feel that our life in general is being affected. How is the concept of  a week connected to life as a whole?

The week is the most basic rhythm of social life, and each of the seven days has a unique quality. A Monday is definitely not a Saturday. Why is that? While each of us has our own sense of the days based on our life experiences, the days of the week also have certain archetypal qualities. For millenia, their names and order have corresponded to the names of heavenly bodies (Moon-day, Saturn-day), which also connect them to the gods and drama of ancient mythology. We can find some of the qualities of the days in these connections. The same archetypal forces are at work in structuring the phases of life, and these provide further clues and insights about the inner qualities of the days of the week.

Over eight online sessions, we will dive into the concept of the week, explore how the days of the week live in our personal experiences, and see what strength can be gained from this basic rhythm that is always there but seldom noticed. Combining self-reflection activities, discussion, and sharing with others, we will build up a picture of each day and its connection to phases in life.

In these arhythmical times, can you rediscover your own rhythm and gain strength to step into the unknown future of your life?

All meetings will take place via Zoom from 1-4pm ET (Eastern US and Canada) on the following dates:

March 14, April 11, May 16, June 13, September 12, October 17, November 14, and December 12
